There are many ways to improve your innovative and creative thinking, but one very easy technique is to keep a pad of paper with you at all times. You never know when a great idea will strike, and if you don’t document the idea immediately, you might forget it.
I find that I’m most creative when I’m laying in bed and reflecting on my day. I keep a journal next to me just in case I have a great idea. A friend of mine believes he thinks best in the shower, so he bought a dry-erase board that works in water.
No matter where genius strikes, you want to be ready to harness it!

Usually as I’m about to drift off to sleep (which is why I keep my Iphone next to me at all times – it doubles as an alarm clock and as a way to record sudden flashes of inspiration).
Just as importantly, I’ve gotten some of my best ideas when talking about related things to other people – what I call having someone act as a “sounding board” that I can bounce ideas off.
